Employability Skills System: ESS
The Singapore Employability Skills System (ESS) is part of the Singapore Workforce Skills system (WSQ) a robust continuing education and training system to enable our workforce to meet the demands and adapt to the evolving business environments and challenges.
The ESS comprises of a set of generic and portable skills set, competency standards, designed to allow individuals who missed out on formal education to be equipped with the foundational skills to remain employable in order to meet the demands and challenges of the workplace. ESS also increases workers effectiveness and work abilities- in turn contributing positively to organizations of employment and to facilitate companies in developing their workforce to compete effectively in the marketplace.
The 10 employability skills are: 1. Workplace Literacy and Numeracy
2. Information and Communication Technology
3. Problem Solving and Decision Making
4. Initiative and Enterprise
5. Communication and Relationship Management 6. Lifelong Learning
7. Global Mindset
8. Self-management
9. Workplace-related Life Skills
10. Health and Workplace Safety WDA has identified a set of competency units for these 10 employability skills and are grouped into 3 separate series Workplace Literacy Series (WPL) Workplace Numeracy Series (WPN) Workplace Skills Series (WPS) ESS Personal Effectiveness
